Get what you want out
of playing guitar
When I picked up a guitar at 10 year old, I found it overwhelming as I started lessons, as I was taught about scales, chords and music theory, all fundamental knowledge, but no one ever explained WHY I needed to learn it. It all felt like homework and I lost interest quickly until I had a teacher that showed me how to apply these things.
For this reason, prior to starting with a new student, we will have an initial chat to get an idea of your current ability level, music taste, influences and skills you hope to learn or improve. From this we will create a set of personalised short term and long term goals we can start to work towards.
Will we learn scales and some theory? Yes of course! But we will always contextualise everything ensuring you can apply these valuable tools and they elevate your guitar playing.
Areas we can develop:
Technique
Styles such as rock, pop, funk
Timing & Rhythm
Music Theory including scales & chord knowledge
Improvisation
Songwriting
Live Performance
